Three Shades of Dark (2007)
Marking the first collaboration between The Seldoms and ICE (International Contemporary Ensemble), Three Shades of Dark is a work in three scenes, presenting variations on themes of instinct and consciousness, sight and sightlessness. Three Shades of Dark is an homage to movement and sound born of shadow - bodies pry open mouths, tense into knots, or become instruments for a percussive language.
"In this, their first collaboration, ICE and The Seldoms have discovered a mutual affinity for powerful images dredged up form the gloomy mines of experience and imagination...be assured that the intellectually adventuresome, whistle-clean aesthetic shared by ICE and The Seldoms wrings an odd beauty from the grotesquerie of these images."
